Basic Page Optimization Strategy:

  • Start with one page, the home page or a particular landing page
  • Choose one high-competition keyword and one or two low-competition keyword (read about it in How finding the right keywords can build your online sales and look in additional Keyword Resources)
  • Include the keywords in the first paragraph of your copy and especially in your Title Tag ( for more information read Writing for the Web), then spread the keywords throughout the page. Be sure to include the keywords in a natural way
  • Make sure the copy is is written for the intended (human) audience. Don't try to spam the search engines
  • Include keyword(s) in internal links
  • Get links from related, external pages and use keywords in the links

Signing up for a Google AdWords Campaign might be necessary, but that is a good thing.
